Anatoly “Tony” Spencer has been recruiting attorneys since 2003. He has successfully placed lawyers into permanent positions with law firms, corporations, funds, and investment banks.

Tony recruits for openings in a variety of substantive areas, including litigation, all corporate disciplines (M&A, capital markets, finance, fund formation, etc.), intellectual property, bankruptcy, and real estate.

Tony works with attorneys at all stages of experience with particular expertise in the placement of associates and counsel. His goal is to help each attorney fully realize their search objective. He has successfully assisted lawyers with finding a superior partnership opportunity, an improved work-lifestyle balance, and positions where they could modify the scope of their practice (e.g., concentrate on a certain type of dispute or transaction). His experience includes working with practice groups seeking to switch firms and helping senior associates at elite firms transition to counsel positions at premier branch offices.

Tony’s expertise extends to all segments of the New York legal market. He also has extensive experience with helping attorneys relocate to other major U.S. cities and is especially well versed with the Los Angeles, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, and Washington markets.

Prior to becoming a recruiter, Tony practiced law for five years. He started his legal career as a litigation associate at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel and later practiced trademark law at Ladas & Parry, a mid-size intellectual property boutique. Tony graduated from New York University School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from NYU’s College of Arts & Science. Tony lives in New York City. His leisure interests include travel, fitness, history, and movies.
